Basics Plus Inc. and its affiliate, Paragon Security & Locksmith Inc were established in 1989 as a local New York locksmith and security store. The head offices of the company are now located at 86 Christopher Street, New York, NY 10014.
Over the past several years the company has grown substantially only to become one of the largest security companies in New York City. From six different locations throughout the city we provide the people of New York complete security services as well as retail of hardware and house-wares.
Our respected client list includes: Starbucks Coffee, New York University, Columbia University, The New School, Bargold Storage Systems, NYC Department of Buildings, Cooper Square Realty, Andrews Building Mgmt., Rose Associates and many more.
In 1997 we opened our first Hardware store at 121 University Place / East 13th Street. We continued to expend in 2001 with the launching of our branch located at 845 Second Avenue / East 45th Street. This 2000 sq. ft. store offers 10,000 different items for the city's apartments & offices. These include: hand tools, paint, plumbing & electrical equipment, lighting, storage solutions, glassware, table tops, bathroom accessories, kitchenware, safes, locks, and lots more.
We took our business ventures a step further in 2003 when we purchased “Riverside House-wares”, a 2000 sq. ft. store located at 2315 Broadway / West 84th Street. This was an established business for 43 years prior to our purchase. We gave the store a modern look to make it more like our Second Avenue store. Our expansion did not end there and we continued with full force. In March 2005 we opened our newly branded, 2500 sq. ft. store at 194 Third Avenue.
In March 2006 we relocated and opened a sixth 500 sq. ft. store at 148 Church Street corner of Chambers street, featuring our new concept – Basics Plus Hardware & Locksmith. This new location will be a prototypical Basics Plus Hardware & Locksmith store, maintaining our signature, first class design, merchandise and services.
We have recently decided to expand the retail business under the Basics Plus brand focusing on smaller stores, 500 to 900 sq. ft. in size, well organized, sharing a uniform look and offering the same merchandise and services.
