Founded in 1989 on the corner of University place and 13 st in NYC as a small locksmith and hardware store, Basics Plus sold everything from keys, safes, hardware and an ever expanding line of houseware items. The store aimed at providing basic household needs to local residents, and soon became popularly known as “The Corner Store That Carries Everything!” With a growing customer base and demand for more products and services, it took less than 5 years for the business to open 7 other locations all around Manhattan.
